I found my niche in freelance court reporting over three decades ago and received on-the-job training at Janet L. Parker & Associates, Baton Rouge, LA.
A few years later, my family moved to West Monroe, LA, where I resumed my college studies. Upon receiving my B.B.A. from University of Louisiana-Monroe, I began employment as an
ABA-certified paralegal specializing in document preparation and legal research. During the same year, I also obtained my notary commission and started moonlighting as a Louisiana mobile
notary.
The opportunity to return to my first love of court reporting occurred in 1996, and I began working as an independent contractor with Pat Duke Court Reporting (now Duke Copeland Court Reporters).
After "retiring" from active court reporting in 2003, I founded ScopingByJulie and have been happily scoping and proofing for others ever since!
